A very special afternoon tea was enjoyed recently at Richmond Letcombe Regis when contestants from BBC One’s Celebrity MasterChef series competed to prepare recipes belonging to residents. John Torode and Gregg Wallace, series judges, joined contestants in the kitchens.
The semi finalists were set the challenge of impressing residents with their culinary skills, cooking recipes for much-loved cakes and pies donated by residents, from French apple tart and chocolate cake to a ginger cake recipe which had been handed down from generation to generation.
The celebrities took over the kitchen for much of the day and were tasked with preparing afternoon tea for their special guests, who then had the opportunity to taste their efforts and judge the results.
Elisabeth Parker, Village Manager commented: “It was a terrific thrill for residents and staff to have the Celebrity MasterChef team filming here. It was certainly a very unusual day in our kitchen but it was fascinating to see how the celebrities coped with cooking under such pressures and time constraints.”
